Dedicated and driven, Rebecca has many passions as a creator, educator and collaborator. During her time studying in downtown Austin (The University of Texas at Austin, College of Fine Arts) she worked as an events manager (University Interscholastic League), director, actor, designer, technician, and educator. While attending school she began working for local non-profit organizations (ZACH Theatre; Austin Theatre Alliance- The Paramount Theatre) in administrative, management, and teaching positions. She went on to teach for Austin ISD (Paredes Middle School) as a theatre and dance teacher and was elected as the campus' Head of Fine Arts, leading department meetings and campus-wide staff trainings. Leaving the classroom led her to take a role with Austin, TX's premiere stage labor provider (Stage Alliance Inc.) as their Operations Manager, servicing clients such as Texas Performing Arts and The Long Center for The Performing Arts, overseeing the technical theater staff who work on some of Austin's biggest touring acts. She additionally works within the Austin Improv Community as a Community Coordinator (ColdTowne Theater) planning events and opportunities to expand performance opportunities. In 2025 she managed the 2025 Austin Sketch Festival which welcomed performers from all over the country for 5 days of performances and classes. Independently East also works as an improv instructor and coach (The Hideout Theatre) and can regularly be seen performing in performance troupes The Big Bash (The Hideout Theatre) and with internationally touring, B. Iden Payne Awarded, improv company: Jane Austin Improv (Marketing Director & founding player).
